PULL OF THE MOON

I am the middle of a wave,

Coming and going

I wait patiently for the wind to blow,

To rush me to a new place

To warmer waters or deeper blues

I am the middle of a wave,

Coming and going

Sometimes I reach the shore

Just far enough to feel the warmth of sand

Until the rush comes, a full moon

And I join the sea again

I leave the peeking toes,

The seashells and seaweed

Because I am the middle of a wave

I come and I go

I can never seem to settle.

xx,

Ileana de Hoyos

About Ileana De Hoyos

Born and raised on the border between Texas and Mexico, this Latina is a lover of art and culture. A writer + explorer in her free time, pouring beers + serves wings in orange shorts to pay the rent. Recently she became the first DJ at her local Irish pub, where she works for free and like got the gig because they grew tired of connecting her Spotify all the time.
