INSPIRING OUTDOOR CONNECTIONS

GIRLS SURF + STAY GETAWAY AT SURFHOUSE BOUTIQUE MOTEL

A #GETOUTSIDETHEGRIND SURF + STAY WITH SURFHOUSE BOUTIQUE MOTEL + VOLCOM WOMEN’S

With the summer days coming in hot like the heat from the sun, cravings for an escape has been rising just as quickly. Shifting form part time freelancing to working full time to launch a new brand in a new place while balancing all the other life things on my plate, I’ve found myself overstretched, under-nurtured and over exhausted. The time and ability to pack up and head out of town lately has been honestly unrealistic, even for a quickie road trip that I so often like to do.

A quick dip of my toes in the water one Sunday afternoon a few weeks prior to Surfhouse Boutique Motel’s launch of their surf camps sent me away from the shoreline with cravings to finally make this summer, THE summer to go all in and finally get in the water and catching waves. I hit up the amigos at Surfhouse to book a room + called a couple girlfriends for a needed mini surf + stay to force a pause on the day to day.

Living with roommates + working from home rarely allows me time to disconnect or the space to deep dive into simple luxuries you sometimes find in the place you call home. I had a taste of this a couple months back during our first sleepover and have been craving it every since. This time, I booked in a bunk room + invited a couple of my girlfriends living life on the road to come play + stay for a night with me. Adult sleepover? Yes, please.

The value of this time we shared is irreplaceable. And the space we were able to sink into made doing this with a little fuss + just the right amount of class easy to achieve. I packed my bags lightly and sunk into some cozy beach to street style duds from Volcom Women’s. Punched in the entry code on the key pad to unlock the door to a #stokecation and strolled around town to be a local, living like a tourist for the day.

Within just a few short month, I’ve collected a handful of rad, driven + passionate women and have come to call them friends. Unlike my standard male compadres, making space and time in the day to day with these ladies has began to teach me the power and importance of a community built on sisterhood. We’re all walking different walks, and pursuing our own dreams, but at the root of each individual is a kindness that is irreplacable and unduplicated across any other type of relationship. And this is what inspired the invitation to gather these women who have been individually inspiring me in their day to day walks and spend some time sleeping + surfing at my favorite local getaway.

Sunset sake sips on the patio, strolling down the street for bites with the babes and ending the night with laughs, deep talks and tarot readings + affirmation making is more than what I’d imagine this girls getaway could be. Checking out of life + sinking into soul searching with my sisters, even for just a night was properly concluded with a sunset surf, picnic and hang.

Living life to be surrounded with nature + supported by wholeheartedly good people has taught me that bonds are not created solely over time. But they’re born in the commonalities of living a genuine life, nurtured through experiences and strengthened through the vulnerabilities you reveal by allowing yourself to fully connect to the people you encounter. I’ve experienced this quickest and most recently the easiest with the women I’m meeting who are living life freely – in their vans, on the road or even fully committed to a career. But above all things, this vulnerability has allowed an honest connection that expands into every element of each of their lives, the commitment to connect and seek ways each day to make the world they impact better than how they found it.

This community of women was formed on an overnight Surf + Stay at Surfhouse Boutique Motel and solidified in the salty sea sending me back to my day to day knowing that this TRIBE + it’s mission to invite, inspire + connect will exist no matter what, near or far.
