DEATH SILENCE IN DEATH VALLEY (POETRY)

DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Delete noise,

You’ll hear a sound.

Nothing,

Yet loud.

Echoes of silence,

Of dirt

Of stone

Of death

In the Valley of Death

Songs play so silent

Ears cry,

Happy and sad

Songs void of notes

Known to us,

Echoes of empty space

Of dirt

Of salt

Of death

Ears cry,

Happy and sad.

I miss the coyote’s scream,

The clicker buzz,

The wind cutting through

The cholla and the bush.

Never did I hear

so much silence,

So much

Death

Valley

Silence
