“You’re a Stranger Here But Once” is more than just some words written on a sign left hanging from the original design. This, truly is a what Glorietta Jackson is all about. From the staff to the chefs, making every encounter personal and memorable is a mission they’re easily achieving. Walking through the mysterious doors, you’ll find that you’ve stepped into a charming and semi-romantic yet casual ambiance that will make you forget about the concept of time. The personality of the people are revealed in each recipe and every taste invites you to try another. Fresh, house-made pasta, fire-grilled meats + veggies, stirred cocktails, and carefully selected French wines are a few of the things you’ll discover here. The menu rotates seasonally, is selected by the chefs and bar staff working with local purveyors and the portions are made for sharing. Bring your people or meet some new ones. There’s an art to renovating and rebranding a property filled with history while maintaining the character, story, and charm that holds the history of a place and makes it special. The Anvil Hotel in downtown Jackson, WY is a place that has done just that. Clean, modern, and sleek. From the tiles on the shower floor to the knobs on the doors, these carefully considered details reflect in every element that your eyes meet. The feel of the space from the lobby and merchantile to your hotel room is as welcoming as the people of the town you’ll meet. If you ask me what’s most important about a stay, I’ll always say a comfy bed and good shower and this place has two thumbs up for both. Beautiful, non-intrusive bedding + decor and free coffee and adult hot cocoa served daily in the lobby. This is a home away from home that will make your decision to come back to Jackson that much easier.
I never knew I’d enjoy the snow so much. It’s wet, it’s cold and honestly, it has always seemed elusive, challenging, and not worth the conquest to me. If skiing and snowboarding are as intimidating for you as they are to me, this is the experience you’re made for. Click into a set of shoes + do what you do every day – walk about. But through mysterious fields of white powder. Now, that’s exciting. Going out with a guide who knew all the things you might want to know about the entire Jackson Hole area – was a bonus worth investing in. I couldn’t have picked a better way to get outside + get into some physical activity that not only helped burn some calories I started collecting to thicken my winter coat, but also showed me parts of the Grand Teton National Park that are only seen in the winter while running across some really cool animal markings like moose grazing and bears fur + claw marks on trees.
I would have never imagined the endless possibilities for exploration outdoors in the middle of winter. Personally, I hate being cold. Even the thought of ice cream can make me shiver. But the thought of seeing wildlife, naturally in the wild, trekking through unexplored territory, seeing never before seen sights in nature with my own eyes and emerging into one of the best winter wonderlands in the country trumped the opposition to being cold. I spent a week in Jackson so was able to explore multiple experiences through the Anvil Explorer’s Program. But if you only have a day and aren’t sure which to do – they’ve curated the perfect ways to get outside for anyone who is curious to discover the best of Jackson. Some experiences are longer than others, so your time will hold some dictatorship here, but no matter what, can check out our GET OUTSIDE GUIDE on 4 Must Do Guided Winter Tours in Jackson, WY and find the right experience for you + your crew.
A fantasy come true. Dipping into a real deal, natural hot springs. This beautiful pipping hot pool is right off the side of the highway and a true locals spot. My newly found adventure buddy and true local spilled the not so secret spot + took me out for an afternoon of exploration that the every day Jackson people like to frequent. Hiking down a slippery path to a sulfury, very steamy + breathtakingly beautiful oasis was the best way to spend the morning and by far my favorite moment the entire trip. If you’re lucky, you’ll have the whole outdoor “hot tub” to yourself for a few before you run into other locals who might be just so kind as to share some brews or a slaushy (aka adult frozen drink) with you over curious conversation and amazing views. Mega bonus, my skin was just as happy as my heart at the end of the day.
